Description
The Postal Service issued a 39-cent Ronald Reagan commemorative stamp on June 14, 2006 in Simi Valley, California. Howard E. Paine of Delaplane, Virginia, designed the stamp.
The stamp honors former President Ronald Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004. The stamp art is a portrait of Reagan painted by award-winning artist Michael J. Deas of Brooklyn Heights, New York. The portrait is based on a 1981 photograph of Reagan by White House photographer Jack Kightlinger.
This reissue of the Ronald Reagan stamp with the 39-cent denomination was first issued on February 9, 2005, with a 37-cent denomination. The 39-cent photogravure stamps were produced in pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) panes of twenty stamps by Sennett Security Products. 50 million stamps were printed.
