Description

The Postal Service issued a 32-cent Alpine Skiing commemorative stamp on January 22, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alpine skiing is one of the most popular winter sports in the United States. The artist of the stamp captures the color, speed, and strength of this challenging and competitive sport.
Designed and illustrated by Michael Schwab of San Anselmo, California, the stamp was printed by the Banknote Corporation of America, Inc. and issued in gummed panes of twenty.
