Phantom pennant made in anticipation of the San Francisco Giants winning the 1965 National League. The Giants did not win the League that year, finishing second behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. Phantom is a term used to describe merchandise prepared in readiness for achievements that are not attained.
The team features the names of many of the teams notable players, including Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Warren Spahn, Juan Marichal, and Masanori Murakami, the first Japanese born player in Major League Baseball .
