Description

On January 16, 2009, in San Diego, California, the US Postal Service issued a $17.50 Old Faithful (Express Mail) definitive stamp in a pressure-sensitive pane of twenty stamps. Carl T. Herrman of Carlsbad, California, designed the stamp.
This stamp features a digital illustration of Old Faithful geyser created by Dan Cosgrove, Clarendon Hills, Illinois. Cosgrove's artistic interpretation of the popular attraction at Yellowstone National Park shows Old Faithful erupting in the warm glow of an autumn sunset while several bison graze nearby.
Ashton Potter (USA), Ltd. (APU), Williamsville, New York, printed 15 million stamps in the offset process with microprint "USPS."
