Description
The 15-cent Will Rogers commemorative stamp was first placed on sale at Claremore, Oklahoma, on November 4, 1979.
Will Rogers (1879-1935) was a cowboy, actor, and writer. He gained national fame during the Great Depression for his humor, acting skills, and philosophical outlooks. Rogers died in a plane accident in Alaska with aviation pioneer Wiley Post in 1935.
The stamp was designed by Jim Sharpe and issued in sheets of fifty.
