Object Details

Description

The 15-cent Santa Claus Christmas stamp was placed on sale at North Pole, Arkansas, on October 18, 1979, and the 15-cent Virgin and Child Christmas stamp was placed on sale October 18, 1979, at Washington, DC. The Virgin and Child stamp depicts a painting of the same name by Gerard David in the collection of the National Gallery of Art.
The Santa Claus stamp was designed by Eskil Ohlsson; the Virgin and Child stamp was designed by Bradbury Thompson. Both were issued in sheets of 100.
