Description

This Prominent Americans Issue stamp depicts John F. Kennedy, the thirty-sixth President of the United States. He was born in Massachusetts in 1917. He served during the Second World War as the commander of a PT boat in the Pacific Theater. In 1946, he was elected to the United State House of Representatives and later, the United States Senate in 1952. He won the nomination for president, and narrowly the election against Richard Nixon, in 1960. He was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald during a motorcade procession in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.
