Two Smithsonian Museums Will Host Official Viewing Party for Argentina vs. Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final

Soccer fans in Washington, D.C., have the opportunity to watch a live broadcast of Argentina vs. Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final from Rio de Janeiro at the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum. The museums, together with the Embassy of Germany, will host an official viewing party in the museums’ enclosed and air-conditioned Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard. The game will be broadcast live on a 21-foot LED video wall. Additional support for the event has been provided by the Embassy of Argentina, the Downtown DC Business Improvement District and D.C. United.

The match is scheduled to air Sunday, July 13, at 3 p.m. Fans are invited to attend the free event and dress to support their team. The museums’ Courtyard Café will be open for visitors to purchase food and beverages.

This viewing party has been approved by FIFA and ESPN and is supported by the Smithsonian’s Office of Facilities Engineering and Operations.
