Smithsonian Associates presents an evening with chef Bobby Flay Friday, Nov. 1, at 6:45 p.m. in the Baird Auditorium at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. Drawing on his newest book, Bobby Flay: Chapter One, he shares insights into his personal and professional experiences, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the culinary world that shaped him. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the interview.

At 16, Flay made the decision to forego traditional education and dive into the world of professional restaurant kitchens. Since then, he has received the James Beard Award, written 18 bestselling cookbooks, opened numerous restaurants, made appearances on dozens of Food Network programs, won five Daytime Emmy Awards and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His stamp can be felt in restaurants across the country and at the dinner table in many families’ homes. His new book compiles 100 of his most timeless and seminal recipes for home cooks as well as tales of his restaurant ventures, memorable TV spots and stories behind the dishes.

Registration prices for the Smithsonian Associates’ program are $30 for general admission and $25 for members. The registration prices for general admission and book are $85 for general admission and $80 for members.
