The Smithsonian Associates present an evening with Jeff Corwin Thursday, Nov. 12, at

6:45 p.m. at Baird Auditorium in the National Museum of Natural History at 10th Street and Constitution Avenue N.W. Corwin, a biologist, Emmy Award-winning producer and host on Animal Planet and the Travel Channel, will discuss his yearlong odyssey documenting the world’s vanishing species.

From the plight of the last remaining orangutans of Sumatra to the imperiled black rhinos of Africa, Corwin provides the audience with a firsthand look at species that are on the verge of extinction. Corwin was inspired to document these endangered animals by biologist E.O. Wilson’s concept of the Hundred Heartbeat Club, species with 100 or fewer animals alive in the wild. He will discuss the heroic adventures and battles that occur in defense of Earth’s most threatened creatures. Corwin will also share pre-release footage from his MSNBC documentary about these rare animals, and his book “100 Heartbeats: The Race to Save Earth’s Most Endangered Species” will be available for signing after the program.

Tickets for the Smithsonian presentation are $25 for general admission and $15 for members. For tickets and information, call (202) 633-3030 or visit www.smithsonianassociates.org.
