Penny Black: Reversed sheet
The reverse of the May 2, 1840 folded letter is a sheet of postal stationery designed by William Mulready. The recipient of the letter folded it inside out and used the Mulready side on May 4, two days before it became valid. (Image courtesy National Postal Museum)
