About

Branch of the Smithsonian American Art Museum dedicated to exhibiting American contemporary craft, celebrating makers taking both innovative and time-honored approaches to their work. The Renwick Gallery is located steps from the White House in the heart of historic federal Washington. This National Historic Landmark was designed by architect James Renwick Jr. in 1858 and was the first building in the United States built specifically to be an art museum.

To provide an address for MetroAccess Paratransit, please use Pennsylvania Ave. at 17th Street, NW.  A ramp at the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave., NW, leads to an accessible entrance.

Barrier-free access to the museum is available at the 17th Street entrance.

We encourage the use of Metrorail and Metrobus.

There is no public parking facility for the museum. City-operated metered parking and commercial lots are available.

The Renwick museum store features artist-made gifts, books, and more. You can reach the store at 202.633.6856 or AmericanArtGiftShop@si.edu or shop online. 

Barrier-free access to the museum is available at the 17th Street entrance.
