On view is an environmental sculpture of entwined maple saplings—approximately 8-1/2 feet high—created on site by North Carolina artist Patrick Dougherty. Starting from a basic sketch, the artist works spontaneously—reacting to the space, his materials, and visitors who watch him at work. Photographs of the work in progress are also on view.
