A Magic Web: The Tropical Forest of Barro Colorado Island

On view are 40 photographs taken by ecologist Christian Ziegler at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on Panama's Barro Colorado Island. These images reveal the tropical forest ecosystem as a complex "magic web" of interactions - mutualisms, predator-prey relationships, seasonal changes, and species' adaptations - that maintains the viability of the environment.
