Inagurating a permanent exhibit case, "Research in Natural History", is John C. Ewers, Senior Ethnologist at MNH, who has studied the arts and crafts of Indian tribes of the Great Plains for 40 years. Exhibited with a photograph of Ewers, posed holding a piece of sculpture in front of a Plains Indian painting, are samples of field notes and a draft of his current book, one of more than 150 publications he has written. Also on view are more than a dozen examples of Plains Indian art work including a painting by Sioux Chief Sitting Bull, Killing a Crow Indian Chief.
