Heritage Gardens: African American and Native American

The significance of the Heritage Gardens is to make Americans aware of the rich ethnobotanical and ethnopharmacological knowledge that Native Americans and African Americans have shared with immigrants to the new world. This knowledge transfer often made the difference for survival of immigrants to America. On view are living examples of plants used by Native Americans and African Americans for food and medicines.
