The exhibition of about 550 items shows how natural grasses have been used to make functional and decorative objects.
Included are a Japanese raincoat, Swiss lace, Indonesian wine container, Egyptian necklace, Iroquois mask, Zulu beer strainer, and Amazon mating dance dress. Grasses used are bamboo, wheat, barley, rye, pampas grass, millet, sugar corn, broom corn and maize.
Organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art
