For the first time since they left his studio in 1796, two full-length portraits of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart are displayed together side by side. One was painted for the Marquis of Lansdowne, the other for Sen. Wm. Bingham of Pennsylvania. One has been on display at the Gallery for the past six years; the other is on loan from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
