Eliot Porter: The Color of Wildness

This first-ever comprehensive look at the artistic legacy of Eliot Porter (1901-1990), one of this country's most influential photographers, includes 162 of his photographs arranged chronologically, along with some of his journals, books, and other materials. In a career that spanned more than fifty years, Porter pioneered the use of color photography, creating evocative, environmentally aware studies of places around the world and in the process changing the way we view nature. His innovative work led to the widespread acceptance of color photography as a fine art medium, as well as drew the attention of scientists and environmentalists.
