On view are 10 acrylic paintings by Baltimore-based natural science illustrator Biruta Akerbergs Hansen, whose art has appeared in Smithsonian and other magazines, books, and museums locally and nationally. Hansen was commissioned to paint 10 of the most common, yet resplendent, butterflies in North America and the wildflowers upon which they feed, as part of a National Zoo project to promote public interest in "butterfly gardening."
