DISTRICT OF GEORGIA---GREETING:
WHERAS, An Information hath been filed in the DISTRICT COURT OF THE UNITED STATES for the Southern District of Georgia, on the... day of January in the year 186..., by HENRY S. FITCH, Esquire, Attorney of the United States for said District, in behalf of the United States of America, against Forty three (43) acres of Land more or less with the improvements therein situate lying and being in the corporate limits of the City of Macon Bibb County Georgia, bounded on three sides by Calhoun Hazel and Lamar Streets, and on the other by the Macon and Webster Railroads, being the same as was heretofore deeded by the Mayor and Council of the said City to the so called Confederate States,
for reasons and causes in said information mentioned, and praying the usual process and monition of the Court in that behalf to be made, and that all persons interested in said property may be cited in general and special to answer the premises, and all due proceedings being had that the said property mentioned, be condemned and the proceeds thereof distributed according to law: You are therefore HEREBY COMMANDED to attach the said property and to detain the same in your custody until the further order of the Court respecting the same and to give due notice to all persons claiming the same, or knowing or having anything to say why the same should not be condemned as forfeited, and the proceeds thereof distributed according to the prayer of said information, that they be and appear before the said Court to be held in and for said District on the Second Tuesday [[strikethrough]] Fourth Monday [[/strikethrough]] in February next, at 10 o'clock, in the forenoon of that day, if the same should be a day of jurisdiction, otherwise on the next day of jurisdiction thereafter, then and there to interpose a claim for the same and make these allegations in that behalf. And what you shall have done in the premises, do you then and there make return thereof, together with this writ.
Witness the Honorable John Erskine, Judge of the said Court, in the Southern District of Georgia, the Fifteenth day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven and of our Independence the eighty-ninth year.
