152 has been made out and approved for the month of April 1868, a supplementary Roll - covering the time mentioned in the endorsement will be made out and Mr. L.S. Frost, will be paid accordingly. By order of Bvt. Maj. Genl. W.P. Carlin. Asst. Commr. W.H. Bower. Lieut. and A.A.A. Genl. F.8. L.R. 1868 Walker, Bvt. Capt. Saml. Sub-Asst. Commr. } Endorsements on request for information as to whether or not the Claim of Brownlow Murphy - has been settled. Bureau R.F. & A.L. Asst. Commr's Office, Nashville, June 8th 1868. Respectfully referred to J.B. Coons, Genl. Claims. Agent Bureau R.F. & A.L. Nashville, Tenn., for any information that may be obtained from the records of his office. This paper to be returned. By order of Bvt. Maj. Genl. W.P. Carlin, Asst. Commr. W.H. Bower. Lieut. and A.A.A. Genl. W.P. Carlin - Asst. Commr. with the information that the records of this office, have no account of any such claim as the within named. If the certificate was issued at at the time stated it is likely that the same was forwarded direct, by the Second Auditor to the Attorney's in the case, and that he now holds over the same through inadvertancy or fraud. Office, Nashville, June 6th, 1868. Respectfully returned to Bvt. Maj. Genl. W.P. Carlin, Asst. Commr's B. R. F. & A.L. with the information that pay for subsistence of men is not a proper charge against the Qr. Mr. Dept. "The actual travelling expenses in the army or Navy do not include the food of Officers, but merely railroad steamboat and stage fare." - see decision of 2nd Comptroller of the Treas. Vol. 24. P. 397. The balance of this claim Eight 40/100 Dollars will be paid at this office upon application (Sig.) Wm. T. Howell. Bvt. Maj. & A.Q.M. U.S.A. Bureau R.F. & A.L. Assistant Commr's Office. Nashville, Tenn. June 8th 1868. Respectfully returned to Lieut. Col. Fred. S. Palmer. Sub-Asst. Commr. - Memphis. Tenn. whose attention is called to the endorsement of Bvt. Major Wm. S. Howell, A.Q.M. - It is recommended that the account be made out on the proper forms - Vouchers No 17. Q. Master and forwarded to Major Howell, at Nashville, Tenn. By order of Bvt. Major Genl. W.P. Carlin- Asst. Commr. W.H. Bower. Lieut. and AAA Genl. P95. L.R. 1868
